In this post I will be sharing my pregnancy must-haves. Everything from clothes, underwear, creams and more. So let's dive into it.
It is so easy to see that the pregnancy product market is HUGE from the dedicated sections in shops, tv ads and online ads as well. But the big question is do we really need all the different things that are been pushed onto us? The short answer is no, no we don't need ALL the many things that get shown to us daily 1 because not all of them work and 2 it can be expensive as hell if we went out and bought everything that was "needed" for pregnancy. With that being said there is still a need for some things to help you get through your pregnancy and these will be different for everyone as we all have different needs but below is my list of things that I could not go without and why they have been must-haves for my pregnancy.
To wear:
-
Maternity leggings
-
Maternity joggers
Bras
-
Underwear
-
Pyjamas
For the body:
-
Stretch Mark Creams
-
Bath Oils
Extras:
-
Foot Spa
-
Pregnancy pillow
-
Yoga ball
PREGNANCY MUST-HAVES TO WEAR
MATERNITY LEGGINGS
I'm definitely a leggings type of girl at the best of times but even more so during pregnancy because who really wants to be trying to wear tight jeans while your belly is expanding ? Not me that is for sure! Most shops have some kind of maternity range these days and all most all will sell maternity leggings. There is normal two main styles when is comes to leggings: over the bump and under the bump. Which one you go for is totally based on what you find the most comfortable. Me personally I always go for the over the bump style as I like to keep the bump well covered and just find under the bump item's uncomfortable. As I said most shops have a maternity range now so it can be tricky to pick/find the "one pair to rule them all" but my top 3 are:
-
Asda (George)
-
Boohoo
-
Matalan
MATERNITY JOGGERS
Now these have been a game changer in this pregnancy! These where definitely new find this time round as well as I don't think they really made maternity joggers when I was pregnant last time (9 years ago) but if they did I 100% didn't get the memo. As we all know comfort is king when pregnant and some days we just want to slouch around the house and not really get "dressed dressed" these bad boys are your best friends on those days. If you manage to get a really good quality pair of maternity joggers you'll be laughing as they give you ALL the comfort. As like normal joggers they are made a little bigger so are looser on your body which as we know we need and want this during pregnancy. But can also be styled up a little that if you are going out the house you don't look like a total slob. I picked mine up from George as I found they had the best quality ones that still looked good as well.
BRAS
Finding a good bra can be a pain at the best of times but it is a whole new ball game when pregnant as well our chest spends 9 months getting bigger and bigger, our rib cage expands and our bump gets bigger and bigger as well. So there are so many different things that you need to take into consideration when trying to find bras during pregnancy. A lot of women find that wearing a bra with a wire in it is just a total no go for them and tend to stick to a more sport bra style which is perfectly fine my only recommendation with this is spend the extra money and invest in a really good sports bra that is actually going to give you the correct support. I have found that the MyProtein bras are the best on the market, as they have a huge range of different styles, the prices are good and the overall quality is unreal. Now when it came to me finding a good bra for during pregnancy I personally stuck with shopping at a little shop I have been going to for all my bras for forever. I originally stuck with an underwire bra (just for extra support) and all we did was size up in the back, and this worked fine for me however from around 32 weeks the underwire started to dig in a little so I now swapped over to wearing sports bras.
UNDERWEAR
Personally I did not buy any maternity underwear (pants) and I highly regret that now that I am in the last few weeks for pregnancy as I am 100% needing that extra support to hold bump up/in. With that being said I've obviously seen different styles of maternity pants in the shops and like with all things pregnancy what style you pick it will just be based on what you are going to find the most comfortable as its you that's got to wear them. I will say your big thing to think about when buying maternity pants is if you want over the bump support or under the bump support. Each will come with their own benefits but ultimately its what's ever is best for you.
PYJAMAS
Now if you are new around here you wont be aware that I am the pyjama Queen I literarily own more pyjamas than I do "real people clothes" as Alan would say so you just know girl I am not going to do you wrong with recommendations on this subject. Depending on what time of year your pregnant will play a big part in what is going to be best for you, I hit "heavily" pregnant during the peak of summer and a heat weave might I add so i was ALL about shorts and baggy tops. You could also go down the nightshirt route i just prefer shorts and a top. The best places I found for maternity pj's was:
PREGNANCY MUST-HAVES FOR THE BODY
Now this is the area of the pregnancy industry that could end up costing you a small fortune as there are literality thousands of brands/products on the market claiming to be the best of the best and some kind of magically potion for stretch marks. I would recommend taking your time and even doing a little research into some of the different options that are out there. The brand I ended up picking was: My little CoCo. At the time they where an exclusive to Boots however they do now have their own website https://mylittlecoco.co.uk/. They offer a whole range of mum to be products from:
-
Bump butter
-
Bath soak (oil)
-
Nipple balm
-
Bump sheet mask
I have to say I LOVE this brand, its smells unreal the products are amazing quality, they don't cost an arm and leg and they even have a range for baby/kids as well. I'll be giving them a try once baby is here and I'll let you know what they are like.
EXTRAS
These last few items are just a couple of things that I am including because they where absolute life savers for me. The Foot Spa was a HUGE help for me with my RLS and also towards the end with that lovely swelling of the feet and ankles that happened. We just bought mine from amazon I "think" it was around 30.00. The V shaped pregnancy pillow was something we already had and has been amazing for extra support during the night or even just chilling out on the couch during the day. Last but not least a Yoga Ball we picked mine up from home bargains for 7.99 and OMG!!!! It has been an unreal help with round ligament pain as it just takes some of the weight off and we all know what they say about using these to either bring labour on or to even help when you are in labour. And for 7.99 it doesn't exactly break the bank but is worth every penny.
This list is a very personal one as not every woman is going to need or want the same things during her pregnancy and there is so much out there that you could spend money on but the way I looked at was pregnancy is only for 9 months and I really didn't want to spend too much money on things that would only be used a few times
Drop a little comment below with any of your must have pregnancy products that you think should have been included.
