IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!!! We did it we made it (JUST) to the third and final trimester of pregnancy (woooohoooo) but you know what that means ?
He will be here in just a few short weeks and this is now the time to make sure you have everything here and ready for baby's arrival and if your anything like me this is the time you start to panic about EVERYTHING. From making sure you have all the essentials that baby needs i.e. crib, pram, sterilizer, bottles, clothes, nappies, milk etc.. To the holy shit I actually need to get this human out of me and give birth, not forgetting you are more than likely in full nesting mode at this point as well. And Last but by no means least there is every chance that you are now also having that internal battle with yourself on whether you can do this and are you going to be a good mum.
You would think with this being baby no.2 that I would be on top of all this and be dealing with it like a boss but you my friends would be 100% WRONG! I think I am worse this time round than I was with Cody. Now keep in mind I was a young very naïve 21 year old when I had Cody so the most I was really worried about was when would I fit back into my pre pregnancy clothes I don't think the reality of what was coming truly hit me until that first contraction at 7:30am on the Saturday morning. Fast-forward 9 years and I am now a 30 year old married woman who is "supposed" to be adult that has already went through this before and now knows exactly what is just around the corner and to be totally honest that is scary. Sometimes ignorance is bliss for sure.
So far my third trimester has been pretty much the same as the last two jam packed full of up's and down's but the difference is there is now a very close light at the end of the tunnel and I know baby w will be here soon. And honestly I am SO ready for him to just be here so we can start our life as a little family of four and I can get my body back and start feeling like myself again. That has probably been the hardest part of this pregnancy as I have had so much other stuff going on during it that I have not been able to fully enjoy the experience as much as I would have liked to. But I wont bore you all with all the in's and out's of it as I have pretty much covered it all in last few few posts.
If this trimester has taught me anything it's that when your pregnant you NEED to listen to your body. The closer you get to baby's due date the more things change with your body and if you don't listen to what it's trying to tell you it WILL bite back. There are so many fun (note the hint of sarcasm) thing's that the third trimester has in store for your body that no one really warns you about but don't worry ladies I've got your back! let's chat about all things you have to look forward to in your last trimester of pregnancy.
We'll kick off with a nice and obvious one - You're going to keep getting bigger (look I did say it was an obvious one) as you move closer and closer to baby's due date they will be putting on all the weight and just growing like mad. Which is a good thing as it's getting them all ready for their birthday however there is a slight issue with this as the space they are trying to grow into is getting smaller and smaller as they get bigger and bigger. And well that is not comfortable at all for us poor mum's.
Following along with baby getting bigger, as they do get bigger and the later you get into your pregnancy baby will start to shift down getting ready to come and meet you, as cute and as exciting as this might seem you guessed it its not all fun and games once they start to shift down the way you may experience Lightening crotch! This is exactly what it sounds like a brilliant sharp pain a bit like a bolt of lightening hitting you right in the crotch without any warning at the most random of times.
You might start to notice your hands and feet starting to swell up as well in this trimester (if they haven't already). Its not normally anything to worry about just a little sore and doesn't look great walking around with little sausage fingers and toes, unfortunately ladies there isn't much you can do about this other than rest, this would be the perfect time to convince dad to give you foot rub as well and let's be honest most won't say no when you pull that pregnancy card out.
A few other things you may notice creeping back in this trimester is the fatigue, sickness, raging, hormones heartburn this list honestly could go on and on but one thing to remember that every pregnancy is different and you may be one of the lucky ones that manages to avoid any of this and just sail through to baby being born (LUCKY). I have 100% been hit hard again with all of the above so on 28/09/21 my midwife advised it was best to get myself onto my maternity leave a little earlier than planned but my body has been so run down and put through hell and back and is now telling me to slow down and rest! So that is exactly what I am going to do at the time of this being posted I still have 6 weeks until baby is due and I plan on just enjoying the extra time off, getting the last few things in the house sorted and spending time with Alan and Cody.
